The following describes the different entry values for split:
- Select file(s) to split
- Zip file(s) before splitting
- Select Target File Name
- Select Destination directory
- Split type
- Span disks
- Fixed size
- Predefined split size
- Split set creation option
- Create entire set
- Create just one piece
- Select file(s) to split
- Use either the "Add" toolbar button or the "Open" toolbar button to
browse for the file(s) that you would like to split.
- Zip file(s) before splitting
- If this option is selected, AxMan will zip the selected file(s) before splitting.
The files will either be zipped individually or zipped as one file depeding on the advanced split multi-file options.
- Select Target File Name
- This field is mandatory unless you select the advanced split option to
"auto-generate filenames for each piece". This field specifies the base
file name for each split piece. When splitting a file "foo.exe", you can
specify that the target file name is "bar". In this example, the split pieces
will be named, "bar.1.axman", "bar.2.axman", ..., bar.n.axman.
- Select Destination directory
- This is the fully qualified path (drive letter and path) to the directory that you want
the split pieces written. This directory can be a directory on your hard drive, your
floppy drive, a zip drive, etc. NOTE: Currently AxMan does not support splitting
directly to a CD-RW. In this case you must first split the files to your hard drive
and then copy the files to the CD-RW.
- Split type
- Span disks
- Split the file to pieces that will fit onto the destination directory. This
option is used when splitting to a floppy disk or a zip disk. AxMan will use
whatever free space is available on the given disk and then request another.
- Fixed size
- This option allows you to specify the size of each file in the split set (except the
last which may be less). You may specify the size in either bytes, kilobytes, or
megabytes.
- Predefined split size
- This option allows you to select from one of a few popular split sizes that are useful
for the specified medium.
- Split set creation option:
- Create entire set
- Split the entire file.
- Create just one piece
- Create only the piece specified. This is particulary useful when a single piece of
a split set has become corrupted and you don't want to have to resplit the entire file
